Counselor

Megan Rentz has been the school counselor at Sopris Elementary since the fall of 2016 and loves her students, staff, and families. Megan moved from the southeast in 2015 to follow through on her dream of living in Colorado. Megan was born and raised in South Carolina, and her family still lives there. When Megan is not at school, you can find her outside hiking with her dog, snowboarding, or playing on the river.

Mission Statement: The mission of Sopris Elementary's Counseling Program is to reduce barriers to learning for every student, and to help students grow and thrive socially, emotionally, academically, and as they prepare for their future career.

New This Year from our Counselor

This year, I am offering 20 minute check-ins for students who need a one-on-one check in for any reason, especially if your student is struggling with grief/loss, emotional issues, friendship issues, or just having a hard time and needs support. To prepare myself if there is a lot of need, I will start by offering six meetings, then we can assess needs after that time. I am also hoping to run groups for students based on need.
